I agree wholeheartedly with the decision handed down by the NBA, but I am fearful of this being nothing more than a Pyrrhic Victory in the larger war against racism. Donald Tokowitz “Sterling”, despite being banned from The N.B.A. for what’s left of his 80-year-old life, will likely meet his maker(Satan) with millions, and sadly, an unchanged philosophy of privilege…driven by wealth, prejudice and unearned entitlement.
The (N)ational (A)ssociation For The (A)dvancement Of “(C)hosen” (P)eople was about to “honor” this hate-filled miscreant-now they claim “His money don’t matter tonight.” Why did it Yesterday? Despite NUMEROUS prior instances that shined light on this dudes shade-they looked the other way with hands held out. The N.B.A. not only looked the other way at Sterling’s previously pathetic, prejudiced behavior, they let him run a shoddy organization of perennial losing for years-all in the name of MONEY. It didn’t matter that he was a despicable piece of shit that went out of his way to prevent Blacks, Korean’s and Mexicans from renting his precious rental properties-his pockets were deep enough to be a member of the club of team “owners.”-MONEY
Doc Rivers doesn’t know if he will coach The Clippers next year-Why didn’t he think of that before taking the job?-MONEY! The likes of Mark Cuban only referred to any pending decision by the league as “sliding down a slippery slope” because of?- Fear of losing MONEY.
We can ban all of the Donald Sterling’s of the world, in a physical sense, but what does it TRULY matter if we are unable to affect the very hearts and souls of those like him, that literally worship the phrase “Cash Rules Everything Around Me?”~Daryl
