First of all, this post is about the questionable death of Freddie Gray, who died as a result of unnecessary police brutality inflicted upon him by The Baltimore Police Department.
It has NOTHING to do with black on black crime in Chicago, or anywhere else.
It has NOTHING to do with the favorite flag of false equivalency a.k.a black on white crime.
It has NOTHING to do with Jim-Bob Jerkoffski getting his face kicked-in because he decided to leave his trailer en route to his 20th DUI.
It’s not about Alice In Wonderland resisting arrest…only to be set free due to an affliction referred to as “affluenza.”
It’s about a black man suffering a severed spine while being arrested by a police department that is less than pristine.
Gray, was apprehended by Baltimore police for “suspicious” behavior in a high crime area. The reason for him running away is unknown. The reason they chose to cuff him is unknown. How his spine was so severely damaged is supposedly unknown. As usual…in these cases…information released by the Baltimore Police Department is flowing slower than molasses. We need to focus on what we know!
We know that despite Baltimore having an African-American Mayor&Chief Of Police, Gray’s death, represents a small segment of several instances of police brutality targeted at its black community. The angst shown on the faces of protesters, who, up until yesterday were mostly peaceful…speaks volumes. We know they didn’t become violent for no reason. We know that internal investigations….too often…lead to external failures to charge criminals and murderers because they wear fucking badges of dishonor. We know something other than a “rough ride” caused Freddie Gray’s injuries that led to his death a week later.
Remember, Freddie’s dead…
We’re all built up with progress,
But sometimes I must confess,
We can deal with rockets and dreams,
But reality… What does it mean? Ain’t nothing said.
’cause Freddie’s dead.(Lyric from “Freddie’s Dead”)~Curtis Mayfield
