It’s that time of year where we get to hear about the alleged war on Christmas. As a Christian, I feel this topic is beyond ridiculous. I say both “Merry Christmas” and”Happy Holidays.” I have no problem with Hanukkah, Kwanza and a host of other traditions that celebrate during this most wonderful time of the year. Unfortunately, many holier-than-thou people feel otherwise.
The same self-centered outlook that wants to force prayer in schools along with pledging allegiance to a chant written by a Socialist-wants to diminish, and dismiss, the desires of others to engage in their own customs and traditional celebrations.
The only “war” on Christmas solely exists in selfish minds, that as usual, have no tolerance for diversity of thought. It’s as if no other culture, or communities concerns have relevance. “We only celebrate Christmas in this house” is a fine sentiment as long as it does not attempt to crack someone else’s fundamental foundation of what THEY believe.
For my family, it is a special time for us. We celebrate good fortune, family, friends, and the birth of the Jesus Christ, who WE believe in, while wishing nothing, but peace and good wishes for everybody else. Our gifts to one another have nothing to do with a supposed “war” that others want to wrongfully wage. Rather they are reflective of what all human beings need to embrace…not only now…but EVERYDAY=LOVE!!!
Whatever you all celebrate, In the words of Don Cornelius, I wish you ALL~ LOVE~ PEACE~AND SOUL~Daryl
