Less than 40 miles down the road from Cleveland, Ohio, in its “largest suburb”=Akron, Ohio, we have seen some of the most headline grabbing murder cases in recent memory. The streets that Geraldo Rivera once infamously chased down the “pimp/hitman” known as “Bobie” Brooks for a segment on ABC’s 20/20, back in 1980, have witnessed the psychotic episodes of everyone from Fred Milo, Jeffrey Dahmer and Cindy George. I’ve also discussed the controversial Dr. Margo Prade murder case on this blog. The name Dahmer, alone, conjures up the craziness that the Rubber City has been a part of.
The 1998 murder of aspiring actress Lilius Landrum was recently featured on The Discovery Channel’s “Happily Never After.” The hourlong documentary describes in detail how this beautiful woman lost her life at the hands of a lunatic who didn’t deserve her presence in his worthless life. Tony Rahmel Smith committed one of the most gruesome crimes in Akron’s history and has the nerve to want parole from prison. Check out the link above that describes a case no less important than others mentioned before.~Daryl
