President Ronald Wilson Reagan departed his physical presence on this earth on June,5th 2004. Unfortunately, most of his flawed ideology continued to live on vicariously through the demented mind sets of his many anti-government followers. This miscreant started his brand of “states rights” over government nonsense before he even won election in 1980. Worse yet, he chose to give a speech on the subject in Neshoba County, Mississippi which was the place that three young civil rights workers were brutally murdered in 1964. The “Great Communicator” knew exactly what he was doing.
“I believe in states’ rights….I believe we have distorted the balance of our government today by giving powers that were never intended to be given in the Constitution to that federal establishment.” Ronald Reagan-Neshoba,County Mississippi-1980
“That federal establishment?” Having secured the Republicant nomination in the 1980 election, this insultingly ignorant bastard continued the “Southern Strategy” previously used by Richard Nixon. It’s purpose was to stir up the shit-kicking South into such an anti-government frenzy=they would blindly follow his march to “restore” the importance of the state over government. Reagan created a new form of patriotism that was anything but American. It was exclusive rather than inclusive. It created wider gaps of misunderstanding between Black&White that had already been problematic for years. The mentality allowed Reagan to justify arms for hostages by manipulating “that” federal establishment that he so loathed. Reagan hyped the hypocritical hysteria known as modern day conservatism well over 30-years ago, and with the second inauguration of President Barack Hussein Obama, the Repugnicant model of what is “right” is dead and buried. Going FORWARD,no matter what, and no matter when, this idiotic ideal of right-wing patriotism has been dealt a fatal blow of sanity and diversity from which it will never recover. The fantasy that some of America is somehow more inherently indigenous to the land, and ideals of freedom-has been irreparably blown apart by the reality that we are ALL in this together. The world has changed since the nightmares of murder in Neshoba County, Mississippi and the rest of the many atrocities that encompassed the Civil Rights Movement. President Obama is moving our nation FORWARD despite the ghost of Ronald Reagan’s BACKWARD dreams of the past. ~Daryl
