Today’s version of America is profoundly different than in the past, yet in many ways, any progress that our country has experienced has been overshadowed by a severe regression. We have regressed both politically and in terms of racism.
Racism is a cancer that threatens our nations very existence. The “post-racial” pundits believe it is in remission, but in reality it never goes into remission. Black people helped build the White House with free sweat and labor, yet they were barely allowed to enter through the back door. Now theres a HNIC, not only freely walking through the front door, but calling all the shots as leader of the free world.
According to many, President Obama’s victory in 2008 should represent monumental progress. However, once again the malignant tumor of racial hatred has buried itself deeper into the concept of “progress.” There can be no denial of the fact that today’s racial climate is as hostile as it was before. While the seekers of this make believe utopia remain innocently optimistic, The blood of James Byrd Jr., Anthony Hill, and Trayvon Martin collectively runs down the same road of mental illness that left Emmett Till hanging from a tree. Never before has a president experienced the level of disrespect that we have all witnessed in the last four years. Every hillbilly from San Francisco to New York City has crawled out of the woodwork to show how much they hate this president and they offer no intelligent discourse outside of the same ignorant accusations of Socialism, Communism etc. Here in Ohio, despite people getting back to work thanks to the POTUS bailing out the auto industry=We have to deal with the likes of “Joe the Plumber” who suddenly has emerged as a political candidate that is determined to restore America back to its previous “greatness.” This is the same boat of bullshit that Shit Romney is attempting to navigate with the return of the Rev. Wright controversy.
Both Joe the Plumber and Shit Romney prove the point of this piece. Republicans hate the fact that in reality this country is trying it’s best to move forward. They don’t want government interfering in their own lives, but they want to use legislation to dictate morality to others. The Ted Nugent‘s of the country have even made not so secret threats of their intentions should President Obama win again.
