The Ohio Players brought the sound of Ohio into the forefront of funk, soul and R&B music. “Sugarfoot” influenced a legion of funkateers with his unique skills on the axe. I will forever remember being a 10-year-old kid during the Summer of 1974. Riding our bikes, playing hide-and-go-seek and thinking we were cool while attempting to sing “Fire” by The Ohio Players. This was also the Summer that names like Howard Hewett(Shalamar), Eddie Fluellen(Switch), Phillip Ingram(Switch),and James Ingram were beginning to put Akron, Ohio on the musical map. Godspeed Sugarfoot!!!! ~Daryl
